I’m after recommendations for monitors for active traders. What do people use and suggest? It needs to be 32 inches, high res and not cost an arm and a leg, I don’t really wanna spend more than 450. It will be mounted.

      Thanks!

There are tons of solid options out there that’ll totally cover what most amateur traders need (no offense).

Check out this link – https://www.techradar.com/pro/best-monitors-for-trading-in-year.

For day trading, you’ll want a monitor with high res so your charts and annotations look crisp, a decent screen size (32 inches should do the trick), and the ability to adjust the height easily with a good stand or VESA mount. Also, having a few different input options to connect various devices is a plus.

I did say “(no offense)”. Not personal pal.

LG has a 32″ 4K HDR option. It was cheaper when I got it but now it’s about 395 here – https://www.novatech.co.uk/products/lg-32-inch-32un650p-w-4k-uhd-lcd-monitor/32un650p-w.aek.html

Does what it says on the tin so no complaints from me and comfortably in your budget.

It’s worth doing some research on ‘ultrawide’ monitors if you haven’t already done so.

They are becoming increasingly popular for trading because they provide more screen space than standard 16:9 monitors, allowing you to display multiple charts on the screen at once without sacrificing visibility.

However, you’ll probably be looking at a 1440p (2K) resolution for your budget.

I prefer a triple monitor setup with 16:9s. I find you get more flexible positioning and it allows you to use screens for specific tasks or charts.

But hey ho, each to their own.

                          Yup, I agree with Christian.

More screen real estate makes for a smoother trading experience in my opinion, making it easier to view charts, data fees and news streams side by side.

Worth forking out more in my book.

This is interesting as I had mostly ruled them out on account of cost but now I am reconsidering because it would also help with cable and stand management (pisses me off having lots of wires and clunky stands).

The Dell UltraSharp is a beauty but I might have to post some better trading returns before I can justify that bad boy.

Back in the day when I used Windows PCs, I always used Dell UltraSharp monitors. I really couldn’t fault them.

Yes, they’re a little pricey, but I never had any problems with them (dead pixels, bleeding, etc). And they lasted me years.

Deffo, they are topping 1000 these days.

What did you change to and why the move away from them?

I like using a 34-inch curved monitor (single-monitor setup). Personally have had good success with Dell. Generally $300-$400.

Considered a 49-inch, but 34″ is a good option where you have a nice amount of workspace without needing to move your head.

I’ve used iMacs for 10+ years now.

I was fed up with Windows after I had a few [expensive] laptops die on me after just a couple of years.

Do people think oled monitors have come far enough so that burn in isnt a problem with stock charts or still have to stay away?

OLED monitors have come a long way in recent years and you’ll see manufacturers have started using things like pixel shifting and screen savers more to combat it. Burn in is also covered under some warranties so not a major issue in my book.

Personally, I wouldn’t take the chance of using an oled for day trading. Those bright colors on trading charts – think reds, greens, and all those vivid lines – might accelerate burn-in over time.

It’s a beautiful display, sure, but not exactly built for the constant static elements you’d get from trading software. IMHO.

                                            I agree.

In addition, I find the glossy/reflectiveness of OLEDs unsuitable when working with charts.

OLED screens are nice in dark rooms when playing games or watching movies, but they aren’t practical in a light room during the day.

I find a matte display preferable when trading.
