I’m still fairly new to it myself (I’ve got about two years experience).

Step 1: Education. Step 2: A demo account. Step 3: Patience.

Start slow and don’t chase quick wins.

How long did you spend demo trading before you started putting down real cash?!

I would echo this last point. It is better in my humble view to build your capital up slowly rather than shoot for huge returns with a large portion of your balance.

Start by Googling how not to lose all my money in day trading’ lol.

Then open a demo account, practice like crazy, and don’t touch your real wallet until you’ve nailed the basics.

Oh and risk management! Learn risk management first – no exceptions.

First things first, learn the basics: what moves the market, how to read charts, and what tools you’ll need. Jumping in too quickly is like driving blindfolded – fun for no one.

Find free resources, and focus on learning one trading strategy at a time. Consistency beats hype, always.

Thx for giving me these links James. The terminology info in the first link was really helpful and I’m going to order one of the books suggested ‘A Beginner’s Guide To Day Trading Online by Toni Turner’ for some light Xmas reading!
