How Did We Choose The Best Airtm Brokers?
To pinpoint the top Airtm brokers, we:
- Leveraged our directory of 500 brokers, identifying all those accepting Airtm
- Checked they support Airtm deposits and withdrawals for day trading
- Sorted them by their rating, combining 100+ data entries with our hands-on findings
What Is Airtm?
Since it was founded in 2015, the Airtm e-wallet has grown to become an established online payment service that works with more than 300 bank and e-payment systems across 18 countries, mainly in Latin America.
Today, the company operates from headquarters in Mexico City and San Francisco, and it has recently been making inroads as a payment method for traders as the number of online brokers that accept Airtm deposits has started to creep up.
The company’s founding aim is to leverage digital currencies to serve customers in developing countries whose fiat currencies are subject to devaluation, and consequently, Airtm supports a large range of cryptocurrencies.
Additionally, this payment method can be used in place of cash to pay participating vendors or to send commission-free transfers to other Airtm users.
How Does Airtm Work?
Once signed up, new traders will need to find a method to fund their Airtm accounts with the native digital currency used on the platform, called AirUSD, which is fixed to the value of the USD.
This can be done through:
- Bank transfers
- Prepaid vouchers
- Participating vendors
- Cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum and five other tokens
The company’s customers can use their funded accounts to transfer money commission-free to other Airtm accounts, or to fund a variety of other payments, including to brokers that accept Airtm deposits.
Fees
Airtm charges a variety of fees to users to make transactions, including adding money to their accounts or receiving money, such as trading profits.
Unfortunately, the company is not the most transparent about the commissions it charges, instead providing users with a page of equations they will need to solve if they want to work out how much they will be charged per transaction. However, the company does provide an example transaction of a payment from a US bank to an Airtm account in which the total charge came to 1.13%.
There are also other fees, including a monthly $1 inactivity charge for accounts that remain idle for over one year and a fee for Airtm-to-Airtm transfers for users who exceed the monthly $2,500 limit.
Bear in mind that whatever the group charges, you may also have to pay Airtm brokers a transaction fee, or pay a charge to your bank account if you want to withdraw trading profits from your Airtm account. There may also be an indirect charge from Airtm’s exchange rate if you operate in a different currency.
The good news is that some of the top brokers that accept Airtm deposits, including Deriv, cover any transfer charges. As a result, the payment method can be used to fund online trading accounts fee-free in many instances.
Transaction Speed
Airtm is a digital payment method so transactions should be near instantaneous in most instances, as long as you are using a stable internet connection.
Crypto payments may take longer, depending on the network traffic at the time, but this is an issue with cryptocurrency transactions in general and is not specific to Airtm.
Also, note that while Airtm brokers generally support instant deposits, there will often be a processing period before withdrawals are completed. This usually takes no more than a day or two, but it can extend to a week or longer depending on the trading broker.
Security
Airtm is a popular and reputable payment method regulated as a monetary service business by the Financial Enforcement Network (FinCEN), so account holders can be assured the company has robust security measures in place.
Additionally, the firm’s AirUSD currency is backed up 1:1 by dollars held in US bank accounts. This assures account holders the funds in their account are backed by something with real value, making it less likely they will evaporate if something unforeseen happens to the brand.
Among the security measures protecting users from fraud is 2-factor identification, which requires confirmation via a registered email address or mobile phone before a transaction is completed. Airtm also requires verification for users to participate in its peer-to-peer payment network, and requires standard Know Your Customer and Anti-Money Laundering checks when you sign up.
It’s also worth checking that brokers that accept Airtm deposits follow standard security measures, such as 2FA at the login stage and encrypted payment portals.
How To Set Up An Airtm Account
It is possible for traders in most countries worldwide to quickly and easily set up an Airtm account through the company’s website. The list of unsupported countries is short, including just Belarus, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, Russia, and the contested territory of Crimea.
New users and traders can sign up by simply visiting Airtm’s website and clicking the “Join” tab. Then, they can either sign up using their Facebook or Google accounts or input their details manually. Once they have signed up, new users can explore the options for funding their accounts.
How To Deposit Using Airtm
The first step to funding your trading account is to make sure you are signed up with brokers that accept Airtm deposits and withdrawals. This list is not as extensive as for some other payment methods, but some large brokers including Deriv and forex broker FXChoice are among those which do.
Once you have logged into Airtm brokers, simply visit the ‘cashier’ or similar tab and click through to either the deposit or withdrawal screen. Most brokers will ask you to fill out a form with the amount of money you would like to deposit or withdraw, and to select the appropriate payment method on the same screen.
This should take you either to a login screen to sign in to your Airtm account and finalize the transaction, or, if the broker supports an API payment programme, the transaction will be completed automatically.
Note, Airtm brokers have their own payment procedures and you can check on their website before signing up and making a deposit.
Customer Service
The Airtm website does not feature live support or any obvious way to reach a customer service employee. Instead, users are directed to an FAQ section to check for answers to their queries, or to a discussion forum where they can “ask the community” their questions.
There is a “mediation” service for transactions that have encountered problems, but the website provides little information on how this works, other than an average mediation time of about 24 hours.
Given the lack of reliable customer support, it’s worth signing up with brokers that accept Airtm which offer 24/7 or 24/5 support via live chat or telephone in case you encounter any deposit or withdrawal issues.

Is Airtm Good For Day Trading?
Airtm will tick many boxes for traders based in Latin America, where this payment service was established – it offers speedy payments, access to cryptocurrencies, and a growing list of supported vendors and trading platforms.
However, many day traders around the world may be put off by the lack of transparency around Airtm’s pricing structure, and the lack of a responsive customer service team or clear answers about how mediation works.
FAQ
How Does The Airtm Payment Method Work For Funding Trading Accounts?
Airtm works like most other e-wallet services – simply fund your wallet account using one of the supported payment methods, including bank transfers, online payment gateways, cryptocurrencies, and debit or credit cards.
Then, you are free to transfer funds to brokers that accept Airtm using the brokerage website’s deposit and withdrawal page.
Can I Use Airtm To Fund Brokerage Accounts Anywhere In The World?
Airtm is available to traders in the majority of countries around the world, so whether you’re in Korea, Kenya or Kuwait, you should be able to access your e-wallet and use it for deposits and withdrawals.
However, the company mainly serves traders in Latin America, so if you need to fund your Airtm account through a bank transfer and you are based in another part of the world, your options may be limited.
Which Are The Best Brokers That Accept Airtm?
Airtm is a relatively new service and the list of trading brokers that currently accept it is not as extensive as some other payment methods, though there are a few well-known and well-regarded brokers, such as Deriv and FXChoice, that support it.
Alternatively, see our full list of Airtm brokers.
Is Airtm A Safe Payment Method For Funding Your Brokerage Account?
Airtm is a regulated service that uses some up-to-date security measures, and as such, it is likely to be fairly secure. However, traders do need to be on the lookout when they choose Airtm brokers, because the lack of transparency in some areas makes it unclear how the firm handles mediation over payment disputes. If you send a payment to a fraudulent broker, it might be difficult to get it back.
And even if your broker is reliable, you should practice risk management with discipline to protect your money, particularly if you are trading risky products such as CFDs with leverage.
What Are The Perks Of Using The Airtm Payment Method For Online Trading?
Airtm is quick, convenient and safe, though it doesn’t do anything that makes it particularly stand out compared to its competitors. It does have a few perks, though, such as a referral system that will generate “rewards” and a way to perform simple tasks for partners in exchange for cash. In addition, the firm supports seven popular cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin.
